Amplitude Studios

Amplitude Studios is a French development studio founded in 2011 in Paris by former employees of Ubisoft. Since its inception, the studio has specialised in sophisticated turn-based strategy and 4X games, in which players build civilisations, develop technologies, engage in diplomacy and fight for dominance over the world or the universe. From 2016, it was part of SEGA, but in 2024 it became independent once again.

The studio’s first major success was the space strategy game Endless Space, which offered players the chance to build a galactic empire, explore space, engage in diplomacy and trade, and take part in large-scale space battles. This was followed by the sequel Endless Space 2, which introduced significantly more sophisticated empire management, unique factions and more modern graphics.

Another acclaimed title is the fantasy strategy game Endless Legend, which transported familiar gameplay mechanics into the magical world of Auriga. The combination of city-building, exploration, tactical combat and distinctly different playable factions made it one of the highest-rated 4X strategy games of its generation.

The studio also enjoyed success with the original roguelike strategy game Dungeon of the Endless, which combines base defence, dungeon exploration and resource management. This title was later followed by the sequel Endless Dungeon, which added real-time co-operative action.

In 2021, Amplitude Studios released the historical strategy game Humankind, in which players create their own civilisation by combining cultures from different historical periods. The game offers an alternative to the classic Civilisation series and emphasises the freedom to shape society, diplomacy and decisions that influence the course of history.

Amplitude Studios is known for its close collaboration with the community via the Games2Gether platform, where players can influence game development, vote on new features and provide feedback whilst the game is still in development.

Thanks to games such as Endless Space, Endless Legend, Dungeon of the Endless, Endless Dungeon and Humankind, Amplitude Studios ranks among Europe’s leading developers of strategy games. Their titles are available for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
