Artematica Entertainment

Artematica Entertainment is an Italian game development studio founded in 1996. Throughout its history, it has focused primarily on adventure games, action-adventure games and titles based on well-known European comic and television franchises. Its titles have been released on PC as well as on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Wii and other platforms.

One of the studio’s best-known projects is Diabolik: The Original Sin, an action-adventure game inspired by the popular Italian comic strip Diabolik. Players take on the role of the eponymous professional thief and criminal, who must use his intelligence, stealth and a wide variety of equipment to navigate dangerous situations.

Diabolik combines classic adventure elements with action sequences, logic puzzles and stealth mechanics. The game was released on several platforms, including PlayStation 2, PSP, Nintendo Wii and PC.

Another well-known title from Artematica is Belief & Betrayal, a narrative-driven point-and-click adventure based on historical mysteries, religious secrets and conspiracies. Following the death of his uncle, the protagonist, Jonathan Danter, becomes embroiled in an investigation that takes him deep into the past and the history of the Knights Templar.

The studio has also worked on games based on well-known comic book franchises. These include, for example, Martin Mystère: Operation Dorian Gray, inspired by the Italian comic series Martin Mystère. The game combines investigation, interviews, object-hunting and puzzle-solving.

Artematica’s portfolio also includes games linked to the Corto Maltese brand, as well as other projects based on European comics and popular culture.

In addition to adventure games, the studio has also created games for younger players and titles utilising well-known licences. As a result, its catalogue is quite diverse and includes both classic narrative adventure games and simpler console titles.

Artematica Entertainment is characterised in particular by its integration of video games with European comics and narrative brands. Unlike many other developers, the studio has often focused on licences known primarily to a European audience.

Thanks to titles such as Diabolik: The Original Sin, Belief & Betrayal and Martin Mystère: Operation Dorian Gray, Artematica Entertainment ranks among the better-known Italian studios specialising in narrative-driven and licensed video games.
