Ascaron Entertainment

Ascaron Entertainment GmbH was a German game studio and publisher founded in 1991. The studio specialized primarily in RPGs, strategy games, and business simulations and was among Europe’s leading developers during its existence.

It achieved its greatest success with the Sacred series, which won over millions of fans with its vast fantasy world, rich character development system, and action-packed gameplay. Other well-known titles include the Port Royale series, Patrician, Darkstar One, On the Ball, Anstoss (On the Ball Soccer), and Tortuga: Pirates of the New World.

Games from Ascaron Entertainment were known for their sophisticated economies, vast game worlds, and high replay value. In addition to fantasy RPGs, the studio also became famous for historical business strategy games in which players built business empires, managed cities, or controlled maritime trade in the Caribbean.

Although Ascaron Entertainment ceased operations in 2009, its games still maintain a strong fan base to this day. The Sacred, Port Royale, and Patrician series are considered classics of their genres and have significantly influenced the development of European RPGs and strategy games.
