Black Forest Games

Black Forest Games is a German development studio founded in 2012 in the city of Offenburg. The studio was formed by former employees of Spellbound Entertainment and has been part of the THQ Nordic (Embracer Group) publishing group since 2017. It specialises in action games, platformers and remakes of classic titles.

The studio’s first major success was the platformer Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, which built on the legendary The Great Giana Sisters series. The game captivated players with its original switching between two worlds, stunning graphics, dynamic music and precise gameplay. This was later followed by the expansion Rise of the Owlverlord and other projects based on this franchise.

The studio gained worldwide popularity thanks to its modern remakes of Destroy All Humans! and Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, which faithfully reimagined the cult alien action games using modern graphics, improved controls and the preservation of the original humour. Both games received positive feedback from players and critics alike.

Black Forest Games has also created the action RPG Fade to Silence, contributed to the development of the racing game Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back, and is working on the highly anticipated action game TMNT: The Last Ronin, inspired by the successful comic book series about the Ninja Turtles.

The studio is known for its high-quality remakes, technically sophisticated games and respect for the original source material. Thanks to titles such as Destroy All Humans!, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams and Fade to Silence, Black Forest Games ranks among Germany’s leading game studios. Their games are regularly released for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
