Corecell Technology
Brand's website: Corecell TechnologyCorecell Technology is a Thai games and technology studio based in Bangkok, founded in 2002. It originally focused on mobile games, but has gradually expanded its activities to include the development and publication of titles for consoles and PCs. Today, it operates as both a developer and publisher for the PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo platforms.
The studio’s best-known franchise is AeternoBlade, an action series combining elements of hack-and-slash, RPG, platforming and puzzle games. A distinctive feature of the gameplay is time manipulation, which players utilise during combat, when exploring the environment and when solving puzzles.
In the first AeternoBlade, players take on the role of the warrior Freyja, who sets out to avenge the destruction of her home. Using the mysterious weapon, the AeternoBlade, she can manipulate time and utilise this ability against enemies and to overcome obstacles.
The first instalment was followed by AeternoBlade II, which expanded on the original concept with additional playable characters and more sophisticated time-manipulation abilities. Players can rewind, pause or fast-forward time and utilise parallel versions of characters when solving puzzles and engaging in combat. Expanded versions, AeternoBlade II: Director’s Rewind and AeternoBlade II: Infinity, were also released later.
Corecell Technology’s portfolio also includes Crazy Strike Bowling, an arcade-style bowling game, and Wicked Monsters Blast!, a colourful action party game originally released for the Nintendo Wii and later also for the PlayStation 3.
The studio has also worked on other projects and game ports. In addition to its own development, it provides services to other companies and assists overseas developers with the release of games in Thailand and South-East Asia.
Thanks to the AeternoBlade series and games such as Crazy Strike Bowling and Wicked Monsters Blast!, Corecell Technology is one of Thailand’s established game developers. Its games have been released on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, PS Vita, PC and other platforms.
