Creative Assembly

Creative Assembly is a British games studio founded in 1987 by Tim Ansell in the town of Horsham, England. It is one of the world’s most highly regarded developers of strategy games and has been part of SEGA since 2005.

The studio gained worldwide fame with the Total War series, which uniquely combines turn-based empire management with large-scale real-time battles. Among its best-known titles are Shogun: Total War, Rome: Total War, Medieval II: Total War, Empire: Total War, Total War: Rome II, Total War: Three Kingdoms and the fantasy trilogy Total War: Warhammer.

However, Creative Assembly has not limited itself to strategy games. In 2014, it released the horror action game Alien: Isolation, which received excellent reviews thanks to its authentic atmosphere, the Alien’s intelligent AI, and its faithful adaptation of the film franchise. The studio also contributed to the development of the strategy game Halo Wars 2 for Xbox One and PC.

Alongside its own projects, Creative Assembly has also developed several console games for SEGA. These include, for example, Spartan: Total Warrior, Viking: Battle for Asgard and the futuristic strategy game Stormrise, released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Thanks to its many years of experience, technological innovations and ability to create vast strategic worlds, Creative Assembly ranks among Europe’s leading game studios. The Total War series remains the benchmark for historical strategy games to this day, and Alien: Isolation is regarded as one of the best horror games of all time.
