Cross
Brand's website: CrossCross was a small Japanese games studio that was active primarily at the turn of the 1990s and 2000s. It specialised in the development of console games and collaborated with other Japanese development teams on projects for the PlayStation 2.
The studio’s best-known title is Sky Odyssey, a realistic flight simulator released for the PlayStation 2. Cross collaborated on its development with the studios XAX Entertainment and Future Creates. The game featured an adventure campaign inspired by the expeditions of a famous archaeologist, realistic aircraft controls and an emphasis on exploring vast environments.
Unlike the major Japanese developers, Cross focused primarily on collaborating with other studios and developing specialised projects. As a result, it contributed to games that stood out for their technical quality and original gameplay, even though the studio itself was not among the best-known names in the games industry.
Although there is only a limited amount of publicly available information about Cross, its work on Sky Odyssey remains the most significant part of its history to this day. Among PlayStation 2 fans, this game is regarded as one of the most interesting flight simulators of its generation.
