Eden Games

Eden Games is a French development studio founded in 1998 in Lyon. The studio specialises primarily in racing games and car simulations, but has also created action-adventure games and other titles throughout its history. Thanks to its focus on realistic handling, licensed cars and open-world environments, it ranks among Europe’s best-known racing game developers.

Its greatest success came with the Test Drive Unlimited series. The first instalment took players to the intricately detailed Hawaiian island of Oahu, where they could drive freely, take part in races, buy luxury cars and property, and compete against other players online. The sequel, Test Drive Unlimited 2, expanded the game to include the island of Ibiza, dynamic weather, a day-night cycle and an even more sophisticated multiplayer mode.

The studio was also behind the development of the racing games V-Rally 3 and V-Rally 4, which offered challenging rally tracks, rallycross races, hillclimbs and buggy driving. Another successful series is Gear.Club Unlimited, which combines arcade-style racing with realistic vehicle modelling and customisation options.

In addition to racing games, Eden Games also created the 2008 horror adventure Alone in the Dark, which introduced a more open-world environment, physics-based puzzles and a sophisticated system for interacting with fire and objects.
