Since its inception, the studio has specialised in strategy games and is one of the most highly regarded developers in the genre. Since 2005, it has been part of 2K Games, which is a subsidiary of the publisher Take-Two Interactive.
The studio’s best-known series is undoubtedly Sid Meier’s Civilization, in which players build their own civilisation from prehistoric times to the modern era. The series is renowned for its sophisticated turn-based strategy, technological development, diplomacy and the option to conquer the world through military force or cultural influence. Titles such as Civilization V, Civilization VI and Civilization VII are among the highest-rated strategy games of all time.
The studio has also achieved great success thanks to its modern revival of the XCOM series.
