Frontier Developments
Brand's website: Frontier DevelopmentsFrontier Developments is a British games studio founded in 1994 by the legendary developer David Braben, co-creator of the cult space game Elite. The studio is based in Cambridge and, over the course of its history, has established itself as one of Europe’s most respected developers of strategy, simulation and space games.
One of the studio’s first major successes was RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, which brought theme park building into a fully 3D environment and remains one of the most successful simulators of its kind to this day. This success was followed by the modern simulations Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo, which offer players detailed park construction, a sophisticated economy and extensive customisation options.
Frontier Developments is also the creator of the space simulator Elite Dangerous, which builds on the legendary Elite series. In it, players can trade, mine resources, fight and explore a realistically rendered Milky Way galaxy. Thanks to regular updates and its vast open world, the game has become one of the most significant space simulators of our time.
The studio has also been involved in the development of successful licensed games, including Jurassic World Evolution, Jurassic World Evolution 2, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin and F1 Manager. These titles demonstrate the studio’s ability to create high-quality strategy games and simulators based on well-known brands.
Thanks to its focus on technical innovation, sophisticated simulations and long-term support for its games, Frontier Developments ranks among the most prominent British studios today. Its games have won over millions of fans worldwide and are regularly regarded as some of the finest examples of the strategy, management and space simulation genres.
