Gorilla Systems
Brand's website: Gorilla SystemsGorilla Systems Corporation was an American games development studio that specialised primarily in family, children’s and licensed video games. During its existence, it developed games for PC and consoles such as the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance, as well as other platforms.
Among the studio’s best-known projects is All Star Cheer Squad for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. The game focuses on cheerleading and combines dance and sporting elements with the performance of various routines.
The first instalment was followed by All Star Cheer Squad 2 for the Nintendo Wii, which expanded the range of choreographies and other competitive elements.
Gorilla Systems also worked on games from the Nancy Drew series. For the Nintendo DS, it created the adventure games Nancy Drew: The Deadly Secret of Olde World Park and Nancy Drew: The Mystery of the Clue Bender Society. In these games, players investigate mysterious cases, search for clues and solve logic puzzles.
A significant part of the portfolio consisted of games based on well-known Disney brands. For example, the studio worked on Hannah Montana: Music Jam, Disney’s The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, Disney’s Lilo & Stitch: Hawaiian Discovery and Disney/Pixar Monsters, Inc.: Scream Team Training.
The Barbie brand was also well represented. Gorilla Systems created, for example, Barbie Adventure: Riding Club, Detective Barbie in the Mystery of the Carnival Caper, Detective Barbie 2: The Vacation Mystery, Barbie as Sleeping Beauty and The Barbie Diaries: High School Mystery.
Other games from the studio include Strawberry Shortcake: Strawberryland Games, Strawberry Shortcake: Sweet Dreams, The Cheetah Girls, The Proud Family, Cake Mania: In the Mix! and The Clique: Diss and Make Up.
However, the studio’s history stretches even further back. As early as 1995, it contributed to the puzzle game FlipOut!, which was released for platforms such as the Atari Jaguar and PC.
Gorilla Systems is therefore primarily characterised by the creation of games based on popular film, television and toy licences. Its catalogue features brands such as Disney, Barbie, Hannah Montana, Nancy Drew and Strawberry Shortcake.
