IKIGAI Play

IKIGAI Play was a Spanish independent development studio founded in 2016. The team focused on creating original indie games with an emphasis on co-op play, classic arcade gameplay and distinctive cartoon-style graphics.

The studio’s best-known project is Runner Heroes: The Curse of Night and Day, an action platformer designed primarily for two-player co-op. The game utilises an original day-and-night cycle mechanic, whereby each hero sees a different part of the level. Successfully completing each section therefore requires cooperation, good timing and communication between players.

Another well-known title is The Flea Evolution: Bugaboo, a modern reimagining of the classic game Bugaboo (The Flea), which pays homage to one of the most significant Spanish video games of the 1980s.

IKIGAI Play was known for its love of classic video games, simple yet inventive gameplay mechanics, and a focus on fun local multiplayer. Although the studio produced only a few titles, it gained the attention of indie game fans thanks to its original ideas and high-quality production.

IKIGAI Play’s games were released for PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PC, and to this day remain an interesting example of modern Spanish indie game development.
