Invader Studios

Invader Studios is an Italian independent game studio based in Olevano Romano, near Rome. The studio specialises primarily in survival horror games inspired by classic horror games from the 1990s and is best known for the Daymare series.

The studio’s roots are closely linked to the Resident Evil franchise. The team originally worked on the fan project Resident Evil 2 Reborn, which aimed to create a modern remake of the second Resident Evil using Unreal Engine 4. The project garnered considerable attention from gamers, but its development was halted after Capcom announced its own official Resident Evil 2 Remake.

The team subsequently used the experience gained whilst working on the project to create their own game, Daymare: 1998. This survival horror title is a striking tribute to the classic games of the late 1990s and combines exploration of dark locations, puzzle-solving, limited ammunition supplies and battles with dangerous monsters.

Daymare: 1998 follows the events following a catastrophic incident at a secret research facility. The story is told from the perspective of several characters and gradually reveals the circumstances surrounding the biological threat that has struck the surrounding town. The game utilises an over-the-shoulder perspective and mechanics reminiscent of classic survival horror games.

The first instalment was followed by the prequel Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle. Players take on the role of special agent Dalila Reyes, who is sent to a secret research facility. The mission quickly turns into a fight for survival against dangerous creatures and other threats lurking within the complex.

Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle expanded on the original concept with new gameplay mechanics. For example, a special device that allows you to freeze enemies and parts of the environment plays a significant role; this can be used both during combat and when solving puzzles.

Invader Studios bases its work on the atmosphere of classic survival horror games, limited resources, exploration, puzzles and stories inspired by horror and sci-fi films of the 1980s and 1990s. Thanks to the games Daymare: 1998 and Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle, the studio has established itself as one of Europe’s leading developers of modern survival horror games.
