Kite Games

Kite Games is a Hungarian game development studio based in Budapest, which specialises primarily in strategy and tactical video games. The team consists of developers with experience in creating strategy games and other titles for both PC and game consoles.

The studio’s best-known project is Sudden Strike 4, the latest instalment in the popular series of war strategy games set during the Second World War. The game builds on the series’ traditional tactical approach and, rather than focusing on large-scale base-building, emphasises commanding available units directly on the battlefield.

Sudden Strike 4 offers several campaigns inspired by significant operations of the Second World War. Players can command units of the Allies, Germany and the Soviet Union and utilise infantry, tanks, artillery and other military equipment.

An important part of the game is the tactical use of terrain and the characteristics of individual units. For example, tanks can be damaged from different directions, infantry can occupy buildings, and well-positioned units can set an ambush for an advancing enemy.

The game also features a system of commanders inspired by real-life military figures. Individual commanders offer different abilities and bonuses, allowing players to tailor their army to their preferred playstyle.

Sudden Strike 4 was released not only on PC but also on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so Kite Games has adapted the traditionally PC-based strategy genre for gamepad controls.

Another major project from the studio is The Valiant, which combines real-time strategy with RPG elements. Instead of the Second World War, it transports players to medieval Europe and the Middle East.

The Valiant focuses on smaller groups of warriors and heroes who acquire new abilities and equipment. Battles therefore rely more on the effective use of individual units than on commanding vast armies.

The studio has collaborated with publishers such as Kalypso Media and THQ Nordic, under whose labels its best-known projects have been released.

Thanks to games such as Sudden Strike 4 and The Valiant, Kite Games ranks amongst the Hungarian studios specialising primarily in sophisticated tactical strategy, historical battlefields and the combination of classic RTS mechanics with modern gameplay elements.
