Brand's website: LizardcubeLizardcube is a French independent development studio founded in 2015 in Paris. The studio was founded by Ben Fiquet and Omar Cornut, who have gained recognition for their exceptionally high-quality hand-drawn graphics and modern reinterpretations of classic game series. Lizardcube specialises in action games, platformers and beat ’em up titles, with an emphasis on traditional 2D animation.
The studio’s first major success was the remake of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, which completely reimagined the classic 1989 game. Thanks to its stunning hand-drawn graphics, fluid animations and the option to switch between the original and new graphics at any time, the game won acclaim from both players and critics.
The beat ’em up Streets of Rage 4, created in collaboration with Dotemu and Guard Crush Games, brought the studio worldwide popularity. The game successfully continued the legendary series from SEGA, offering modern gameplay, hand-drawn animations, sophisticated combat and co-op multiplayer.
The studio continued its collaboration with SEGA on the action platformer Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, which revives one of the Japanese publisher’s most famous franchises in a modern 2D style. The game is built around fast-paced action, precise controls and a distinctive art style that is characteristic of Lizardcube.
Lizardcube is renowned for its top-quality hand-drawn graphics, fluid animations and respect for classic video games. Their aim is to breathe new life into legendary gaming franchises in a way that appeals to both long-standing fans and new players.
Thanks to games such as Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, Streets of Rage 4 and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, Lizardcube ranks among Europe’s leading independent game studios. Their titles are available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
