Mere Mortals

Mere Mortals was a British video game development studio active in the early 21st century. The studio focused primarily on developing racing and arcade games for consoles and PCs. It achieved its greatest success with titles that combined vehicle driving with business and action elements.

The studio’s best-known games are Big Mutha Truckers and Big Mutha Truckers 2, in which players get behind the wheel of massive trucks and, in addition to racing, engage in trading goods, completing missions, and building their own transportation empire. The games were released on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC platforms.

Mere Mortals collaborated primarily with the publisher Empire Interactive, which released both games. The Big Mutha Truckers series gained popularity thanks to its unconventional combination of arcade-style driving, humor, and economic elements, setting it apart from typical racing games of its time.

Although the studio did not create an extensive portfolio of titles, Mere Mortals remains best known to fans primarily for the Big Mutha Truckers series, which still holds its place among the favorite arcade racing games for sixth-generation consoles.
