Mimimi Games

Mimimi Games was a German development studio founded in 2008 in Munich. The studio specialised in developing real-time tactical strategy games with an emphasis on stealth, sophisticated game design and compelling narratives. During its existence, it built a reputation as one of the world’s finest developers in this genre.

Its first major project was the adventure game The Last Tinker: City of Colors, but its real breakthrough came with the tactical strategy game Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. The game is set in feudal Japan and follows in the footsteps of classics such as Commandos. Players control a group of specialists with unique abilities who must complete challenging missions using stealth tactics.

The studio followed up on this success with Desperados III, a modern sequel to the legendary Western series. Players lead a well-known group of gunslingers, plan every move, utilise the abilities of individual characters and complete missions in various ways. Thanks to its precise level design and freedom of approach, the game is regarded as one of the best tactical strategy titles of recent years.

The studio’s latest project is the pirate stealth strategy game Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, which has transplanted tried-and-tested gameplay mechanics into a fantasy world full of cursed pirates, magic and supernatural abilities. The game offered a more open-ended mission structure, extensive scope for experimentation and high replay value.

Although the studio’s games were very well received by both critics and players, Mimimi Games announced in 2023 that it was ceasing operations for financial reasons. The studio left behind an extraordinary legacy and made a significant contribution to the revival of the tactical stealth strategy genre.

Thanks to games such as Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, Desperados III, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew and The Last Tinker: City of Colors, Mimimi Games ranks among the most acclaimed German game studios of its generation. Their titles are available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
