Obsidian Entertainment is an American games studio founded in 2003 by former employees of Black Isle Studios. Since its inception, it has specialised in developing sophisticated RPGs with an emphasis on a strong narrative, player choice and complex game mechanics. It has been part of Xbox Game Studios since 2018.

The studio has earned widespread acclaim for games such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords, Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Alpha Protocol, Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny, The Outer Worlds, Grounded, Pentiment and, most recently, the fantasy RPG Avowed.
