Page 44 Studios was an American video game development studio based in San Francisco, which focused primarily on console and licensed video games. The studio worked on titles for the PlayStation 2, PSP, Nintendo DS and other platforms.

For fans of skateboarding games, Page 44 Studios is best known for the Tony Hawk series. The studio developed the PlayStation 2 version of Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, whilst the main versions for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 were developed by Neversoft.

Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground allows players to build their own skateboarding career and choose various paths of development. The game features expansive locations, a host of tricks, challenges and other elements typical of the Tony Hawk series.

Page 44 Studios has also worked on several games based on well-known Disney franchises. These include titles linked to films and TV series, which were often aimed at younger players.

For example, the studio contributed to games set in the Hannah Montana universe and other licensed projects for both handheld and home consoles.

Its portfolio also includes work on Disney’s Bolt, an action-adventure game based on the animated film of the same name. However, different studios often worked on individual versions of these licensed games, so Page 44 may not have been the developer for all platforms of a given title.

Page 44 Studios is also associated with older console projects and, during its existence, collaborated with publishers such as Activision and Disney Interactive Studios.

The studio was amongst the developers who specialised in porting major brands to less powerful or handheld platforms. It therefore often created standalone versions of games whose main console releases were developed by other studios.

Thanks to its work on Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground and several licensed titles, Page 44 Studios ranks amongst the smaller American studios primarily associated with the PlayStation 2, PSP and Nintendo DS eras.
