PlayMagic Ltd.

PlayMagic Ltd. was a video game development studio founded in 2010 and based in Malta. The studio specialised in developing action games, remasters and remakes for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC. In addition to its own projects, it provided technical support and co-development services for a number of major publishers.

The studio’s best-known project is XIII Remake, a modern reimagining of the cult comic-book-style FPS from 2003. The game features revamped graphics, new animations, modernised controls and a return to the story of a mysterious agent suffering from amnesia, who is trying to uncover a conspiracy reaching right to the highest echelons of the US government.

Another major title is the aerial action game Warhammer 40,000: Dakka Squadron, in which players control Ork pilots and take part in frenzied aerial battles set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The game combines arcade-style flying, large-scale dogfights and the characteristic Ork humour from the Games Workshop universe.

In addition to its own games, PlayMagic also contributed to the development and technical support of other projects for major global publishers. The studio was renowned for its expertise in modernising older games and porting titles to new platforms.

In 2021, PlayMagic Ltd. became part of Keywords Studios, one of the largest providers of development services for the games industry. The team continued to work on further projects within the Keywords group.

Thanks to games such as XIII Remake and Warhammer 40,000: Dakka Squadron, PlayMagic Ltd. has made a name for itself amongst European development studios. Their titles are available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
