Relentless Software
Brand's website: Relentless SoftwareRelentless Software was a British games studio founded in 2003 in Brighton, England, by brothers Andrew and David Eades. The studio specialised in developing original party and family games, which proved particularly popular amongst PlayStation console players.
The studio’s greatest success came with the Buzz! series, which became one of the most successful quiz games of all time. Thanks to special wireless buzzers, it offered a unique multiplayer experience and became a favourite feature of family evenings and parties. The series included titles such as Buzz!: The Mega Quiz, Buzz!: The Big Quiz, Buzz!: Quiz TV, Buzz!: Quiz World and Buzz! Junior, aimed at younger players.
Alongside the Buzz! series, the studio also created the episodic adventure game Blue Toad Murder Files, which combined a detective story, logic puzzles and distinctive British humour. The game was released exclusively via the PlayStation Network and received positive reviews for its original style.
Relentless Software had a long-standing close partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment, which meant that most of its games appeared exclusively on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable (PSP) platforms. The studio was praised for its innovative approach to party games and its ability to create titles accessible to players of all ages.
In 2016, the studio announced it was ceasing operations after more than ten years in business. Nevertheless, Relentless Software remains primarily associated to this day with the Buzz! series, which ranks among the most successful and best-known party games in the history of the PlayStation consoles.
