Brand's website: SMG StudioSMG Studio is an Australian independent development studio founded in 2013 and based in Sydney. The studio specialises in developing original puzzle, co-op and arcade games for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile devices. It is best known for its creative game mechanics, accessible gameplay and emphasis on co-op play.
The studio’s first major success was the puzzle game Death Squared, in which players control robots and work together to solve increasingly challenging puzzles. The game supports both local and online co-op and has been praised for its clever level design, humour and emphasis on teamwork.
The studio gained worldwide popularity thanks to the co-operative arcade game Moving Out. Players take on the role of employees at a removal firm and, in pairs or groups of up to four, carry furniture over obstacles, smash windows, throw objects and try to complete jobs as quickly as possible. Thanks to its physics engine, zany situations and entertaining gameplay, the game has become one of the most successful co-op titles of recent years. This success was followed by the sequel Moving Out 2, which introduced online multiplayer, new worlds and additional gameplay mechanics.
Alongside its own brands, the studio has also created the puzzle game SP!NG for mobile devices and contributed to the development of the digital version of the board strategy game RISK: Global Domination.
SMG Studio is known for its original ideas, high-quality game design and ability to create games that entertain both individual players and groups. Their titles regularly win awards for multiplayer, accessibility and creative execution.
Thanks to games such as Moving Out, Moving Out 2, Death Squared, SP!NG and RISK: Global Domination, SMG Studio ranks among Australia’s most successful independent game studios. Their games are available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile devices.
