Striking Distance Studios

Striking Distance Studios is an American development studio founded in 2019 in San Ramon, California. The studio was established as part of Krafton and was founded by Glen Schofield, the creator of the legendary horror series Dead Space. Since its inception, it has focused primarily on developing atmospheric survival horror and next-generation action games.

The studio’s first and best-known title is The Callisto Protocol, which transports players to Black Iron Prison on the moon Callisto, where, for unknown reasons, prisoners are transforming into terrifying mutants. The game combines intense close-quarters combat, shooting, a horror atmosphere and cinematic presentation. Thanks to its cutting-edge graphics, realistic animations and sophisticated sound design, it is often described as the spiritual successor to the Dead Space series.

The game’s world is also expanded upon by the action roguelike REDACTED, which extends the universe of The Callisto Protocol. It offers fast-paced action, procedurally generated elements, unlockable abilities and high replay value.

The studio utilises modern motion capture technology, realistic character facial expressions and detailed audiovisual production. Its aim is to create cinematic horror experiences with an emphasis on atmosphere, tension and a high-quality narrative.

Thanks to the games The Callisto Protocol and REDACTED, Striking Distance Studios has established itself as one of the leading modern studios specialising in survival horror. Their titles are available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC and appeal to fans of dark sci-fi stories and action-horror games alike.
