Tecmo

Tecmo was a major Japanese video game company founded in 1967 that became famous for developing action games, fighting games, and sports titles. Over the course of several decades, it built a strong reputation among video game fans and created a number of series that are considered classics of the gaming industry.

The company’s best-known brands include Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive, Fatal Frame (Project Zero), Rygar, Tecmo Bowl, and Monster Rancher. Tecmo’s games were known for their fast-paced action, high difficulty, and sophisticated combat systems. The Ninja Gaiden series became one of the most acclaimed action titles of its generation, while Dead or Alive ranks among the most famous fighting games of all time.

In 2009, the company merged with publisher Koei to form Koei Tecmo, which continues to develop and publish successful game series to this day. Thanks to its rich portfolio and long history, Tecmo remains one of the most significant names in the Japanese gaming industry.
