The 3DO Company

The 3DO Company was an American video game company founded in 1991 by entrepreneur Trip Hawkins, the founder of Electronic Arts. The company first gained fame for developing and launching the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer console; it later focused on developing and publishing video games for PlayStation, PC, Nintendo, Sega, and other platforms.

The company’s best-known franchises include Heroes of Might and Magic, Might and Magic, Army Men, High Heat Baseball, BattleTanx, Meridian 59, and World Cup Golf. The 3DO Company also owned the studio New World Computing, which was behind the legendary RPG and strategy series Might and Magic and Heroes of Might and Magic.

The company was known for its broad portfolio of games across various genres—from strategy and RPG titles to action games and sports simulators. Thanks to this, it became one of the most significant publishers of the 1990s and the early 2000s.

Although The 3DO Company ceased operations in 2003, its games remain classics in video game history to this day. Series such as Heroes of Might and Magic, Army Men, and Might and Magic have garnered millions of fans worldwide and remain among the most significant brands in their respective genres.
