Toylogic

Toylogic is a Japanese game development studio founded in 2006. It develops its own games and collaborates with other Japanese companies on larger projects for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and PC.

One of the studio’s best-known original titles is Happy Wars, a colourful multiplayer action game originally released for the Xbox 360. The game pits two teams of players against each other in large-scale battles combining third-person combat, simple RPG elements and highly stylised graphics.

In Happy Wars, players choose from several character classes, such as warrior, mage and cleric. Each offers different weapons and abilities, so cooperation between the various roles is crucial during team battles.

Happy Wars was also notable for being one of the more prominent free-to-play games on the Xbox 360. The title later appeared on the Xbox One and PC as well.

Happy Wars was followed by Happy Dungeons, which retained the colourful fantasy style but focused more on co-operative action RPG gameplay. Players explore dungeons together, battle monsters, acquire equipment and upgrade their characters.

Another major in-house project from Toylogic is Warlander, a multiplayer fantasy action game combining large-scale battles, fortress sieges and elements from various game genres. Players utilise warriors, mages and other combat roles when attacking enemy fortifications.

However, Toylogic also has extensive experience as a collaborating developer. The studio has been involved in the production of a number of titles by other Japanese companies, providing technical, graphical or development support.

A particularly significant project is NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139..., a revamped version of the cult action RPG NieR. Toylogic was the lead developer on this new version, working in collaboration with Square Enix and other creators of the original game.

NieR Replicant combines action-packed combat, RPG elements, exploration and a strongly story-driven approach. The updated version features revamped combat, more modern graphics, new voice acting for the characters and additional content.

Throughout its history, Toylogic has also been involved in other major franchises and projects, enabling the studio to gain experience across various genres and several generations of games consoles.

Thanks to games such as Happy Wars, Happy Dungeons and Warlander, as well as the development of NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139..., Toylogic ranks amongst the experienced Japanese studios that combine their own creative work with the development and support of projects for major game publishers.
