Zoë Mode

Zoë Mode was a British games studio founded in 2007 as part of Kuju Entertainment. Based in Brighton, England, it focused primarily on developing music, family and casual games for a wide audience.

The studio quickly gained recognition through collaborations with major publishers such as Activision, SEGA, Sony Computer Entertainment and Konami. The developers specialised in titles that utilised motion controls, music-based mechanics or original gameplay concepts.

Among the studio’s best-known games is Crush for the PSP, an innovative puzzle-platformer that switches between 2D and 3D worlds. The game received very positive reviews thanks to its originality and clever level design.

Zoë Mode also contributed to the development of several instalments in the popular music series Guitar Hero, such as Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades and Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits for the Nintendo DS. Other well-known titles included Dancing on Ice, inspired by the popular TV show, and the sports game Haunt, which utilised the Kinect sensor on the Xbox 360.

The studio’s portfolio also included games such as Rock Revolution, Grease, Chime Super Deluxe, Power Gig: Rise of the SixString, Free Running and Smart As... for the PlayStation Vita. The developers were known for their ability to come up with unconventional gameplay mechanics and adapt their projects to various platforms.

Following the reorganisation of Kuju Entertainment, the studio was reintegrated into the parent company and the Zoë Mode brand gradually ceased to exist. Nevertheless, it left behind a number of original games that fans still remember today, particularly thanks to their creative approach and entertaining gameplay.
