Zoink Games

Zoink Games was a Swedish development studio founded in 2001 in Gothenburg. The studio specialised in original action-adventure games, platformers and narrative-driven games with a distinctive art style. It became renowned for its creative ideas, memorable characters and unconventional take on fantasy worlds.

Its first international success was the platformer Stick It to the Man!, in which players control Ray, who, following an accident, gains the ability to read other people’s minds and manipulate the world using a long pink arm growing out of his head. The game earned acclaim for its original gameplay, humour and paper-style graphics.

This success was followed by the poetic adventure Fe, released as part of the EA Originals programme. Players take on the role of a mysterious forest creature, communicating with animals through song and exploring a magical open world without traditional dialogue. The game captivated players with its atmosphere, audiovisual presentation and emphasis on exploration.

Another standout title was the puzzle-adventure game Flipping Death, in which players switch between the worlds of the living and the dead and use supernatural abilities to solve puzzles. However, the studio achieved its greatest success with the dark action-adventure game Lost in Random, inspired by the works of Tim Burton. The game combines action, card battles, dice rolls that influence the course of combat, and an original fairy-tale world in which fate is determined by chance.

In 2021, Zoink Games merged with Image & Form Games and Guru Games, giving rise to the new company Thunderful Development. Nevertheless, the Zoink Games brand remains associated with some of the most original European indie games of recent years.

Thanks to games such as Lost in Random, Fe, Flipping Death and Stick It to the Man!, Zoink Games ranks among Sweden’s leading independent game studios. Their games are available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
