In Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, players meet protagonist Crash and his sister Coco, who must confront the evil Doctor Neo Cortex, Doctor N. Tropy, and Uka Uka, who have escaped from a space prison. Throughout their adventure, they discover new masks that grant them special abilities such as manipulating time or gravity, allowing them to overcome new challenges and obstacles.

The game offers a traditional platforming experience with modern improvements and innovations. Players must jump, run and rotate through different levels that include diverse environments such as jungles, snow plains, prehistoric landscapes and urban areas. Each level contains secrets and collectibles such as Wumpa fruits, boxes and hidden gems.
