Gran Turismo for PS1 is a highly successful racing video game series for Sony PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3 consoles created by Polyphony Digital and developed by Kazunori Yamauchi.
None of the games in the series contain a story and all have the same principle - the player starts with a certain amount of money to buy a car (or upgrade it) and over time unlocks new tracks, cars and earns money by winning races. The goal is to finish the game at 100%.
Due to licensing agreements with car manufacturers, the game has almost no damage model and thus only a limited collision system. Even so, the game is more of a simulator than an arcade (for example, due to pit stops, tire wear, and car reactions to modifications).
