Gran Turismo 2 (GT2) is a racing game for the Sony PlayStation. Gran Turismo 2 was developed by Polyphony Digital and released by Sony Computer Entertainment in 1999. It is the sequel to Gran Turismo.

Gran Turismo 2 is essentially based on the racing game genre. The player must maneuver a car to compete with artificially intelligent drivers on various race tracks. This game uses two different modes: Arcade Mode and Simulation Mode. In Arcade Mode, the player can freely choose the vehicles he wants to use and can cause damage to the cars. Simulation Mode, however, requires the player to obtain driving licenses, pay for vehicles, earn trophies, and unlock new races. Gran Turismo 2 features nearly 650 cars and 27 race tracks, including rally tracks.

Compared to the original Gran Turismo, the gameplay, physics and graphics are very similar, with the only real noticeable difference in vehicle dynamics being the brakes, which lock up much less and cause the vehicle to oversteer. The main changes are the vastly expanded number of cars, tracks and races in simulation mode. Other differences include that the player can race independently if they don't want to enter the entire tournament. The player is no longer able to "qualify" for every race entered.
