Jak 3 on PS2 is a 3D action platformer and sequel to Jak II. A year has passed since Jak and Daxter saved Haven City from Kore and the attacking Metal Heads, but Haven City is still in deadly chaos as three groups fight for control of the streets. The people of Haven City have begun to distrust Jake's dark forces, and as rumors of Jake's ties to Krew and Kora spread, the city blames Jake for its current plight. When the palace is destroyed by an unexpected attack from the Metalhead, not even Ashelin can protect Jake, as the High Council's power broker, Count Veger, forces Jake into exile in the barren Wasteland. Jak is flown to an inhospitable island and banished. With Daxter and Pecker bravely at his side, the three embark on another adventure where the battle for the city is just beginning.

Gameplay includes platforming, vehicle races, rescue missions, hovercraft rides, playing minigames and shooting various enemies (including boss fights). Weapons including the shotgun, sniper rifle, machine gun and high explosive weapon from the previous game are available, as well as two upgrades for each weapon. The upgrades become available as the game progresses, and at the end the player can switch between the twelve weapons at will.
