Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex is a platformer developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Universal Interactive Studios for PlayStation 2. The game was released in 2001 and is the fourth main installment in the Crash Bandicoot series, which was originally founded by Naughty Dog.

The game continues the story of Crash Bandicoot, an anthropomorphic bandicoot who tries to stop the evil Dr. Neo Cortex and his ally, a masked man named Uka Uka. Cortex is trying to create an army of genetically engineered mutants to take over the world, and it's up to Crash to stop him and save the planet.

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex is a classic 3D platformer in which players control Crash as he traverses various levels collecting Wumpa fruit, golden Aku Aku masks and crystals. Each level contains different environments such as jungles, glaciers, underground caves or coral reefs. The player's task is to complete levels, defeat enemies and collect crystals that are needed to stop Cortex.

The game also includes various game mechanics and mini-games such as wheelchair rides, swimming underwater, flying in a plane or snowboarding. In addition, players encounter various bosses at the end of certain levels, requiring strategy and skill to defeat them.

Graphically, the game takes advantage of the PlayStation 2's capabilities, offering engaging and colourful environments, detailed characters and fluid animations.
