When the giant mining ship USG Ishimura comes into contact with a mysterious alien artifact in a distant star system, it mysteriously breaks contact with Earth. Engineer Isaac Clarke is sent to repair the Ishimura's communications systems, but upon boarding he finds himself in a veritable nightmare - the entire ship, its crew, is unspeakably massacred, forming one giant bloodbath, and everything is infested with alien evil.
