Assassin's Creed Rogue is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Sofia and published by Ubisoft. It is the seventh major installment in the Assassin's Creed series and directly follows Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and precedes Assassin's Creed Unity. The game was originally released in November 2014 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and was later ported to other platforms. Rogue is set in the 18th century during the Seven Years' War and allows players to explore vast areas of North America, including the North Atlantic, the Hudson River Valley, and New York City.

In Assassin's Creed Rogue, players take on the role of Shay Patrick Cormac, a former member of the Brotherhood of Assassins who, after a betrayal, turns against his former brothers and becomes a Templar. This change in perspective provides a unique perspective on the long-running conflict between the Assassins and the Templars, a central theme throughout the series. The game retains popular gameplay mechanics from previous installments, such as boating, combat, and exploration, while adding new elements such as enhanced ship battles and the ability to hunt Assassins.
