Xbox 360 game The Darkness 2. The bloody carnage in photorealistic New York is back. The sequel offers more bloody carnage, but also a comic book-style world.
In the second installment, you once again take on the role of the main character, Jackie Estacado. He is no longer just a mafia henchman, but a respected don. However, he is still a prisoner of the darkness that has controlled his family for centuries. Now, though, he will need it more than ever. A couple of villains also covet his seemingly cool abilities.
While the first installment featured unusually photorealistic graphics that blended nicely with the noir style, the sequel takes a completely different approach. The authors decided to honor the comic book template and shift the game's appearance much closer to its roots. Bright colors and black-lined contours now take center stage. The whole thing is somewhat reminiscent of a comic book.
