Far Cry 5 is an action-adventure and first-person shooter game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. The game was released in March 2018 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC platforms. This installment of the Far Cry series is set in the fictional Hope County, Montana, USA, and is the first installment of the series set in the United States. Players take on the role of a young sheriff's deputy trying to reverse the rise of the Project at Eden's Gate cult, led by charismatic and fanatical leader Joseph Seed.

Far Cry 5 offers a huge open world full of diverse activities and missions in a beautifully crafted environment. Players can explore forests, rivers, mountain ranges and small-town American culture on foot or by using a wide variety of vehicles, including cars, boats and planes. The game places great emphasis on player freedom in choosing how to progress through the story and what missions to complete, all in the context of fighting a cult.

The combat system allows players to use a wide variety of weapons and tactics. Players can complete missions independently or team up with friends in cooperative play mode. Thanks to the "For Hire" system, various NPCs (non-playable characters) can be added to the team, each with their own unique abilities and story. In addition to human companions, players can also recruit animals such as dogs or cougars to help them fight the cult.
