Techland

Techland is a Polish game development studio founded in 1991 in the city of Wrocław. Over more than three decades, it has established itself as one of Europe’s most successful video game developers and has gained worldwide fame primarily for its first-person action games, with an emphasis on open worlds, parkour and the struggle for survival.

The studio’s first major success was the Western series Call of Juarez, which won over players with its authentic Wild West atmosphere and high-quality storyline. Even greater popularity was brought by the zombie series Dead Island, which combined an open world, RPG elements and intense battles with the undead.

Techland achieved its greatest success with the Dying Light series, which pushed the boundaries of the zombie genre thanks to its sophisticated parkour mechanics, dynamic day-and-night cycles and co-operative multiplayer. The series became a global hit and sold tens of millions of copies.

Other well-known games from the studio include Chrome, Nail’d, Dead Island: Riptide, God’s Trigger and Torment: Tides of Numenera, which Techland helped to develop. The studio is also known for developing its own game engine, the Chrome Engine, which powered most of its older titles.
