Naval Ops: Warship Gunner is a single-player naval game that combines elements of strategy and shooting.

The player takes command of a warship that, for plot reasons, has encountered some sort of electrical storm that has flipped the ship into an alternate reality. Upon arrival, the ship is immediately attacked by Imperial forces. From there, the player sides with the Freedom Forces and helps lead the battle against the Empire and its super-ships.

There are two types of games. From the main menu, the player can start a new game or choose the World War 2 option. In the "normal" game the player can invest in technology and use it to build new ships, in the WW2 mode the game is played with WW2 ships from either the US, Japan, England or Germany and is limited to technology period.
