Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is a music video game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision for the Xbox 360 console. It is the third installment of the popular "Guitar Hero" series, which allows players to feel like rock stars by playing a plastic guitar that simulates playing a real musical instrument.

The main goal of the game is to play songs on the guitar (and other instruments) so that players achieve the best score. Players use a special guitar controller that contains buttons resembling the frets on a guitar neck and levers to simulate string strokes. During the game, colored notes are displayed on the screen that players must press on the guitar controller in sync with the music.
