A recommendation system that tracks the consequences of your actions, aptly named Hardcore Mode. Special fights have been added to give new meaning to the phrase "up close and personal". Use V.A.T.S. to pause the fight, target specific parts of the enemy's body, and queue up individual attacks to make the fight as believable as possible.

An arsenal of brand new weapons! With double the amount of weapons found in Fallout 3, you'll have more than enough new and exciting ways to deal with wilderness threats and locals. In addition, Vault-Tec engineers have devised a new weapon configuration system that allows you to tinker with your toys and see the changes you make in real time.
