Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Steelbook Edition for Xbox 360 is a special edition of the award-winning action RPG set in the world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth. Developed by Monolith Productions, the game takes players straight to Mordor, where a tale of vengeance against Sauron’s armies unfolds.

The main hero is the ranger Talion, whose life is dramatically changed following an attack by Sauron’s minions. Talion is bound to a mysterious wraith and gains supernatural abilities that enable him to survive and stand up to the enemies who rule Mordor.

The combat system combines sword attacks, counter-attacks, dodges, finishing moves and the Wraith’s abilities. Talion can fight against large groups of Uruks and gradually gains additional abilities that expand his combat options.

The most distinctive feature of Shadow of Mordor is the Nemesis System, which creates a hierarchy of enemy Uruk-hai. Individual captains have their own names, traits, strengths and weaknesses.

If an opponent defeats Talion, they may rise to a higher rank in Sauron’s army. Upon their next encounter, they will remember their previous victory and may react accordingly. Conversely, defeating key commanders alters the structure of the enemy hierarchy.

The system thus creates a more personal rivalry between the player and individual opponents and is one of the game’s most famous features.

🏹 The Ranger and the Wraith’s Abilities

Talion combines the experience of a Gondorian Ranger with the supernatural abilities of his Wraith companion. His combat skills, ranged attacks, stealth and special powers can be gradually developed.

Information about enemy commanders allows you to identify their weaknesses and resistances. Before attacking a stronger captain, it is therefore worth gathering information and then choosing the appropriate combat strategy.

🌋 Mordor before the War of the Ring

The story is set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The game utilises familiar settings and elements from Tolkien’s world, but tells its own story created for the Middle-earth series.

Players explore the vast expanses of Mordor, complete main story missions and side quests, and gradually weaken Sauron’s forces.
